What Do You Think of the Algarve?
How does it stack up as a family-friendly destination? Are there activities for children? Is the water safe? Thanks. Need some feedback fairly quickly.

The weather there in the Winter is not as cold as in the rest of Europe, but it's the rainy season. I was there in April, and the temperatures were around 20-22C.
The area where I have been - between Faro and Albufeira - has many golf resorts, hotels and apartments. But my impression was that the choices are between those upscale resorts and cheapo hotels, with nothing much in-between. In addition, not many properties have ocean view. I have been to Portugal many times, but just this once to Algarve. The South looked much poorer, so to speak, than the rest of the country. Give me a vacation In Cascais or the Douro valley instead.^ PS: Oh, the irony! The OP needed feedback fairly quickly, and got it 8 years later. |
