Prague Public transit

I read that there are several age groups can travel on Prague public transit for free such as seniors over 65. I am in that category. Do I need to apply for a travel pass? Or do I just get on the buses with my ID to prove my age?

IIRC we were not asked to show ID ..... maybe once. Ya, pretty sure it was once on a tram or bus. The nice lady at the info desk (don't recall where, possibly /probably at the main train station) said to carry a passport.

My brother (who does not look 65 IMO) and I were getting on the subway, and they did not even bother to check our ID while all others had to produce a ticket or pass.

I found this to be a great little perk :)

Enjoy Prague.
