Regional or Local eSims for talk and data in the Balkans
For the Balkans and Hungary and Romania. Who do you use for service. AT&T international day pass is unlimited at $12 a day up to 10 days then no charge. But mainly using the phone for navigation so little data usage probably 50 MB a day maybe 100MB a day max if something odd happens. A two week trip. I was thinking of Airalo for the Eurolink at $13 for 3GB for 30 days.
Do you get an eSim from each country even if only there for one day? Is there a better deal or more reputable company? Will I get a better regional upon landing in Bucharest? |
Within the EU (so, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary...) roaming prices are equal to domestic prices, so you can cover those with one operator's SIM. So you can cover the others with Airalo if you think you'll need more than 3 gig - just get a cheapo prepaid for EU countries.

They have 5g and 10g versions as well. I just don't think I will need that much. Do you recommend I wait and buy in the airport or get the eSim through Airalo in advance?
I'm sure there are cheaper offers available inside Romania (maybe not at the airport) but is it worth wasting time and effort looking for them? If there are problems you will have to go through Romanian customer service which might not be the easiest if you are later physically located in Serbia However the Airalo Europe appears not to include Moldova or Kosovo if you were going there. |

USD 13 for 3GB is an ok price to me, and you'll have it ready to use as soon as you land in Europe.
