Yeah I always check, like layovers, but I don't see any major difference in prices. PHL prices are crazy, and always have been for some reason. Hoping we get another competitor flying from IAD so prices can drop, but I guess there are just not enough planes/pilots for this kind of demand.

An idea I had to take advantage of the "different market" prices:
Since I am traveling twice per year between those two airports, instead of booking the "US market" IAD-ATH all the time, would it make sense for me to book a cheap one-way from IAD to ATH and then continue booking the "Greek market" ATH-IAD round trips? (of course the time period between the 2 round-trips will be like 5 months, but I guess that shouldn't be a problem)

That's no problem, but keep in mind, one-way fares are often expensive regardless of carrier.

One solution would be to use miles one-way if you have them.

This is a very valid strategy, if you are travelling this route on a regular basis. I have done the same, though to/from Asia.
Price out the trip starting from ATH to see how the longer periods before the return impact the pricing. Fares often have restrictions on time durations in the itineraries.

Norse atlantic ticket from IAD to LGW costs $350 for the day I'm looking, then a ticket with Wizz costs $70. The only thing is that I will have to self-transfer, but the layover is about 7.5 hours so this should reduce the risk.

I also see ITA just reduced their prices quite a lot, like $850 round trip, however I have never flown with ITA and I see a lot of negative reviews online.
