Connection in Athens

I am flying Sky Express from Mykonos to Athens Airport. My flight is scheduled to land at 9:55am. I have a Air France flight scheduled to leave from Athens to CDG at 12:20pm. This gives me 2 hours and 25 minutes to make to connection. I will have a checked bag on my Mykonos to Athens leg and will need to collect and re-check my bag at Athens. Is 2 hours and 20 minutes enough time to make this connection? There is an earlier flight from Mykonos on another airline that would get me into Athens at 7:00am instead of 9:55am but that just feels like a lot of time will be wasted waiting until 12:20pm.

You only have 1 hour 45 minutes as the Air France check in desk will close 40 minutes before your flight's departure. It's an individual attitude to risk question so only you can decide, but for me, I wouldn't do it. And that's without knowing anything about the reliability of Sky Express or the ease of transfer at Athens.

Remember, the time at the airport is only wasted if you chose to do nothing and waste it. ;)

Unless the Sky Express flight is delayed, this is plenty of time for the connection.

Athens is quite a small airport. It’s efficient and you normally don’t have to wait very long to get your luggage. So 2h25 minutes is plenty of time.
Air France and Sky Express have some sort of agreement so you might be able to check your luggage all the way from Mykonos to Paris. It’s worth asking.

There is plenty of time at ATH for getting to AF check-in counters in time. Nothing to worry about.

I disagree with all of my esteemed FT members..... the general advice given by almost every forum like TripAdvisor and Matt Barrett's ( other than FT evidently) is to be in Athens the night before an international flight. Especially when you are on two tickets. There are too many things that can go wrong coming from the islands the same day. (weather, wind, strikes, etc.). It comes down to your comfort and stress level. Having been Greece dozens of times over the last few decades....we always are in Athens the night before.

I would say that's probably more important if you are flying back to North America. If you are just flying to Europe, you could take the risk easier.
