Transit time in ATH and LC airlines

We'll be arriving in ATH at 1750 from LHR on Aegean. How much time should we allow to transfer to a flight to Santorini (separate tix)? Any preference for Aegean at 1940, Sky Express at 2020, or Volotea at 2135?

Thanks.

Bags or no bags?

Personally, I would go as late as possible because if you miss the connection the responsibility is all yours. It doesn't take too much for your inbound flight to be delayed and I've had one terrible experience at ATH in reverse - a flight from Mykonos to Athens, collect bags then check in to a Schengen flight - although I had hours - getting my bags meant I made it with seconds to spare.

As as guide (assuming you have luggage) you will need to deboard, immigration to Europe, collect your bags, check in for your Santorini flight, security and usual waiting times.

The date of your travel will be an important factor as whether you make it depends on how busy the airport is.

1940 will be doable 95% or more of the time, but see how much a last minute ticket on the 2135 flight would be and work out whether you would be willing to pay that in case something goes wrong.

Thanks for the advice so far.

This will be on Sunday, June 26 and we will only have carry on bags coming off the A3 737 (may need to check them to JTR depending on the size of the aircraft).

Prices now are Aegean at 1940 = $154 each; Sky Express at 2020 = $123 each; Volotea at 2135 = $25 each (4 pax).

Check Volotea carry-on requirements. It's probably more than $25 each.
This all depends on your risk aversion.

Well, is getting there 2 hours earlier as well as not needing to stress/rush worth $129 each (bearing in mind Palal's post - but also maybe you don't need to pay any extra for all 4 people)?

When arriving from LHR I think you have to go landside before you can go back in to the Schengen airside area.

Last time A3 owned 737s was when they merged with Cronus Airlines. I gather, it must have been before you were born... ;)

You're right, it's the other workhorse single aisle - 319/320/321.

Ended up booking Sky Express at 2020 for under $100 each including a checked bag.

Thanks for the guidance.

Well, that did not work out at all.

A3 was two hours late getting to LHR so we missed our connection on Sky Express. As we were waiting to take off from Heathrow, I booked four seats on A3 since they had flights at 2130 and 2300. Made the 2130, was in a taverna in Kamari by 2300.

$200 each plus the missed Sky Express = $1200 for four one-ways...
