AMS (Amsterdam) transit ... what to expect?

Hi, I'm flying to Montreal from Edinburgh with KLM via Amsterdam, what can I expect on connecting flight at Amsterdam with regards customs and security checks if any ? There is a 3 hour wait at Amsterdam Schiphol for the flight to Montreal

Thanks

You will efter the departures area directly upon disembarkation (maybe after a bus ride if you're on a cityhopper flight) and can proceed directly to your gate for the Montreal flight. No security or passport checks.

However: I think KLM is still doing central COVID document checks at gate F2 for all Canada flights. This will be the gate printed on your boarding pass and shown on monitors. You may want to go there directly when you arrive in AMS as the queue could be long. You will be given the real gate information after completing the document check.

Thanks, so are there no channels for arrivals and connecting flights ? I was thinking I would look for International connections when I disembarked at Schiphol. thank you

That's right. Only a subset of non-Schengen arrivals are classed as non-safe and subject to transfer security. UK is not on that list.

Bumping rather than starting a new one.
We are transiting through AMS from JFK to DUS in June. Arriving on DL and departing on KLM’s Cityhopper.
Due to a schedule change, we now only have a 55 minute connection. Assuming no Covid restrictions, is this even doable, if flights are on time? Trying to avoid yet another schedule change.
Evidently arrival will be Pier E in Hall 2 with departure likely in Pier B in Hall 1. Long walk? How much time will it take once we clear passport control.

it’s totally doable if your incoming flight is on time. Of course, no time for restroom, shopping or whatever ;)
