Entry to Hungary
 

Hi,

I'm flying on Thursday evening to BUD from the UK. I can see that a certificate of immunity can be made with my NHS vaccine certificate, but do I need a PCR test prior to that?

Also, to complicate things in case the above isn't sufficient: I can see that people with an EU DCC QR code can come without a test. I have one from France, because it worked with my NHS QR code. Would that be enough to avoid testing?

My understanding was that we flyers from the UK can't enter Hungary yet, unless resident/relatives of Hungarians/going for highly important business such as football. That was the Embassy's summary, I think...

There are a lot of exceptions, notably the following 2
- persons holding an EU Digital COVID Certificate under Regulation (EU) 2021/953 of the European Parliament and of the Council (for further details, please check (3d)-(3f) of Section 1 of the relevant Gov.decree)
- persons who certifiy that SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus was not detectable in their body at the time of the study with a SARS-CoV-2 PCR test in Hungarian or English, which is not older than 72 hours, made in the UK (Please note that only certificates from approved private providers can be accepted - see the list on gov.uk)

I have both, I'll be fine!

I've sort of given up on the idea of flying to Hungary to see the in-laws. My last attempt was in June and the police emailed me back to say "no". I may probably land somewhere else and drive in, as that's permitted... but looking forward to hear how it goes for you.

Well I got in last night. French passport leaving London. Wizz asked for my PCR at check-in (the agent spoke with her manager for maybe 3 minutes first, that was the only mildly stressful part), and when I got to the Hungarian border in BUD I got asked for either a fresh PCR test or proof of vaccination. I had my PCR on me so I didn't try to show the EU DCC QR code, and that was it.
