Transnistria

I have been looking for information online if it is open with regards to COVID, but can't find anything clear. Does anyone know if a US passport holder is able to go in? If so, it looks like a negative covid test is required?

Ideally I'd like to do a day trip from Odessa, getting there by train and coming back to Odessa the same evening.

The most recent thread I can see is from 2018, so any updates here are much appreciated!

This is the best I could find online, my Moldovan friends said the same.

seems you would need to ask for formal permission to visit first, and if granted need either a hard copy (nothing digital on your phone!) of a vaccine certificate or negative PCR test.

Too far for a day trip from Odessa, spend a night in Tiraspol.

Google shows it as about an hour and a half drive? Doesn't seem too far, unless they are totally off? I know train is a bit longer.

Quick update as well - I emailed the contact address through that website and they replied about 8 hours later. Foreigners are currently prohibited unless they can provide proof of vaccination. If they have proof of vaccination, then all is good.

Border wait times between Transnistria and Ukraine are often lengthy. IME, the trip took three hours in each direction.

I enjoyed the CityClub hotel, nice sized rooms and relatively central location.
