The US embassy was contacted and they said there are 50,000 Americans in Cyprus and they have no plans to evacuate them. No assistance is available.
However, tickets are booked for a flight to the UK in 2 weeks and from there on to the US. There is also a flight next week going through Poland, but that would involve risking getting stuck there if flights out of Poland get cancelled.

At least housing is still available for now that I can't go into details about. So, it is less urgent to get out immediately.

I meant the embassy said 50,000 people worldwide are trying to get back to the US and they can't deal with all of them. Not 50K in Cyprus.

I think you will find many other countries have already organised rescue flights for their citizens to repratriate them.

I am involved in a pressure group trying to help UK citizens in Pakistan. Dawn newspaper highlights the support of foreign governments there:

Why not USA in Cyprus?

If you have somewhere to stay and some spare money, Cyprus sounds like a very nice place to be stranded in :)

16 people in their seventies flew to Cyprus during the present crisis for a short vacation! Anyway, given that nobody died in Cyprus of hunger or cold during the two weeks since this news piece was last updated, I guess the Brittish Embassy helped solve the matter.

You should be in contact with the US Embassy in Cyprus. They are regularly sending me e-mails about flights out of Cyprus, which I do not need because I live in Cyprus permanently. There have been several flights out since the original post. There is a flight out tomorrow. 8 April, to the UK, but you will still need to get onward flights. Commercial flights, excluding cargo flights, into and out of the RoC are restricted through 18 April at the moment.

A charter flight out of Cyprus arranged by the US government did become available and everyone was able to get to the US after sitting for an additional 20 hours in an airport in the UK.

I guess it would have been safer if everybody had stayed in Cyprus. But, at least, they're now back to good food! ;)

I think the food is pretty good in Cyprus, especially what comes out of my kitchen. :D

Ι think the irony in my post, both in terms of health and gastronomy, was very well hidden :)
