Uber or taxi out of BRU

We will have bags, so looking to take a taxi or Uber from the airport (staying close to Galeries Royales Saint Hubert).

Any suggestions/do's/don'ts? :)

Thanks.

Take a train anyway. You are probably staying closer to the central station than the distance between where a car drops you off at the airport and the terminal. (Taxis cannot bring you to the terminal doors at BRU.) The train OTOH stops below the terminal.

I can't tell from experience since I never have to take a taxi at BRU but as far as I know, taxis still drive right next to the terminal, on arrivals level. The top level (departures) is closed off since the bombing and cars aren't allowed any more in the proximity of the terminal, with an exception for taxis. Every time I arrive back home in BRU I do have to cross from the terminal to the parking garages and last time in May, taxis were still waiting over there right next to the exit of the terminal.

But the train is definitely the easiest. The distance between the central station (Bruxelles Central) and the Galeries is less than 500m. On a weekday there is a train about every 10min from the airport to the central station. During the weekend, the frequency drops to every 20min. Price for a one way ticket is EUR 8,90

Yes, taxis can still pick you up at the terminal (arrivals level, as you say).
But they cannot drop you off there. So if you arrive by taxi you need to walk through the parking / bus terminal to the terminal building, then take the escalator / elevator two levels up to departures.

But the OP asked for information FROM the airport, not TO the airport

Oops... how did I not see that? In that case, no problem getting a taxi.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for all the replies. We took the train from the airport, it was super convenient (other than the fact that my credit card wouldn't work at the ticket kiosk because it was chip/sign). I can't believe how backwards we are here in the US re: credit cards, but I digress.

There were four of us on the return to the airport, so we took Uber. The driver dropped us off right next to the elevators in the parking garage. All we had to do was take the elevator and then cross the road to the terminal.

Thanks for letting us know!

So it looks that the disadvantage that Uber has over taxis for an airport pick-up (not being able to use the taxi lane but having to park in the garage) becomes an advantage for an airport drop off... :-)
(Taxis would not be able/allowed in the parking garage to drop you off near the elevators there.)

Indeed ... taxi/Uber combo appears to be the best option for folks who can't take the train.

Hope this helps others who might be looking for this info (until it changes) :)
