Driving in Poland

I will be headed to Bydgoszcz, Poland next week for work.

I am curious if anyone has been there and if they have any thoughts on driving a rental car? Is it difficult, crazy, etc?

Also, I was thinking about renting a motorcycle over the weekend. Any thoughts on that?

Thank you for your time,
Bob

Not any different than in most western european countries. Road quality is variable.

Do you frequently ride a motorcycle? If not, you'd be doing something already somewhat hazardous in an unfamiliar place on an unfamiliar machine. At the least make sure your health insurance covers you well in Poland.

Well to say that they're 'good' depends on what it's relative to. If you learnt to drive in Egypt then that's probably true.

Type 'wyprzedzanie na trzeciego' into YouTube if you want to give yourself nightmares.

Agreed. I'd say driving manners (generally speaking) are actually fairly poor but then, if you've ever been driving on the ring road around Rome at 8 o'clock in the morning on a week-day, you'll be sound and even enjoy it. P.S.: I was used to drive in Britain (nearly 20 years) and gave up driving after not even 3 months of moving to Poland - tailgating, speeding, aggressive driving and gesticulating behind the wheels amongst the things I hated the most, even though my experience is limited to Warsaw and Gdańsk.

I haven't been where you are going, but I have driven in Poland and found the roads to be well-marked and in good condition. I was quite comfortable driving there.
