Mozart Balls - colour?
 

First time tourist to Salzburg and I pick up some of these to try.

Is it just me or is the picture misleading? It shows a green centrally banded area but when I tried a couple, a chocolate shell and a brown marzipan? ball with a slightly light brown central bit. No green whatsoever.

The core should be out of marzipan with a hint of pistachio. Around it is nougat. That is then dipped in couverture chocolate.

In the cheap Mozartkugeln which are produced industrially, the core looks green (perhaps due to artificial coloration).

The good stuff from Salzburg's confectionaries (wrapped in silver and blue foil) may differ in color. The core may be yellow or slightly greenish.
