Hotels in Prague

We are going for sure and are spending 3 nites in Prague and 1 nite in Nuremberg prior to sailing. I need some help with suggestions for a hotel in a good location in Prague, things to see and do there and good places to eat. They are not on the Euro so will my ATM and debit card work there? Also any suggestions for restaurants in Nuremberg ? As always thanks a lot. Be a rookie at this you all have been life savers. I'll probably have some more questions later.

Prague

I just spent a week in Prague. The IC Prague is right off of the old square. Perfect for walking and close to Charles bridge. I will go there in a heartbeat when I return.

The Hilton or Marriott in Old Town are good. I also stayed at the Art Nouveau Palace, which was nice and a good price. It's close to Wenceslas Square.

Your credit/debit card will work fine at stores and ATM's.

I honestly can't remember the names of any restaurants because I can't spell any of them. I had pretty good luck going south of Wenceslas Square, when I was looking for authentic places. Also, you'll see sausage stands around the city, and I found that made a good lunch.

The one must-try is an unfiltered beer. Many places have them but not all. Check menus or ask because once you try one a pasteurized beer won't be the same.

Things to see in 2 days:
Old Town (and astronomical clock)
Charles Bridge
Walk thru Mala Strana and the castle - see if you can find the lock bridge and Lennon wall

Wenceslas Square
Powder Tower
Jewish Cemetery and synagogues (IMO, one of the most interesting areas in Prague)

There is another thread or two on Prague in the Europe forum and I believe others have made some restaurant recommendations in there. I recommend reading those threads as a lot of information has been shared (sorry I would link but too hard on my phone).

I am a budget traveler, so I found the exterior of Art Nouveau Palace quite beautiful, stayed somewhere else, namely Holiday Inn Prague Congress Centre. Just a little out of the way, but a five minute walk from Metro, much lower prices.

In fact, will spend a night there in a little over a week on my brief two day visit to Praha - first and last night will be at HI at airport due to late arrival and very, very early departure.

Normally I stay at Hostel Modra by the airport for early morning departures, a tribute to Communist times. CSA FAs used to stay there, and it's quite spartan, but the only place I recall seeing a beer vending machine ^

Good suggestions minus Wenceslas Square.

Meh.

But if you go there, go to National Museum at the top of the square, hopefully the repairs are finished.

Also the funicular across the river up the hill - your regular Metro / streetcar ticket is all you need to go up and enjoy the park.

Well, I agree there's nothing in the square worth seeing. But it's one of the grandest squares (really more of a boulevard) in Europe. Standing either in the middle or the west end and looking toward the national museum is quite a sight.

The Hilton Prague Old Town has been one of my best hotel stays anywhere to date. That was in part due to being HHonors Gold and getting an upgrade that allowed me to use the (very nice) lounge; I'd definitely recommend the property if you have any HHonors status or if you can book an exec room. I thought the location was quite nice-- a very short walk into Old Town, and surrounded by shops and restaurants.

Just stayed at the Hilton Old Town a few weeks ago prior to a river cruise. Nice hotel, good restaurant and bar, tons of restaurant and bar options very close by, easy walk to the Old Town Square (and I have feet issues).

Dusting off a very old thread.

Any recommendations for hotels in Prague? I'd prefer to stay at a Hilton due to my status (Diamond) and I was considering the Hilton Old Town. I'm also looking at the Four Seasons Prague which is 3 times the price..... (about $169 USD for the Hilton or 50k points/ night vs. 360 Euro for the Four Seasons). Is it worth the splurge for the Four Seasons (i.e. is it 3 times better....)?

Any other recommendations?

Stayed as a diamond at Hilton old town last fall..seems like an eternity ago...hotel is nice ..well located. Nice welcome gift...lounge is very small..breakfast was good. We had a upgrade to suite which was great because we had 3 adults. Concierge was very helpful with restaurant recommendations esp for tg e vegetarian in our group and transportation to train station etc.. don't know about 4 seasons but woul dnt think 3x the price is worth it..

I had a trip to Prague booked for this Thursday, now cancelled. The Mandarin Oriental was very reasonably priced, less than half of the Four Seasons.

I have stayed at the Hilton Old Town - nice location, great hotel. Also, the larger Hilton near the river - Exec rooms can be gotten at good prices, and the Lounge is great - probably, one of the better ones in Europe. There is a Metro station across the road, so a quick ride to say, Mustek, and you are in old Prague.

And, for a while, I used to stay at what was the Movenpick near the Andel station. Large Tesco close by and a great Pilsner Urquell resto close by. Also, the Executive rooms on top of the hill, you access with a cable car - quite unique and those rooms are huge. Pity that there is no Lounge though.
And then, at the end of the tram service at Deivieka Metro, is what was the Crown Plaza. It is now the Hotel International Prague. It was apparently built for the Military invasion, so the Senior ranking officers got the top rooms which are large. With the tram and a quick Metro ride into downtown, plus a short trip to the airport, it is not a bad option either.

Old thread. Looking for recs, Prague 4 nights over Easter Holiday. IHG Diamond, but affiliation not important.
Must be convenient to Metro and prefer walking distance to restaurants, shops and sights.
TIA!

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Four Seasons. I can't speak to the metro, but it was walking distance to everything that we as tourists wanted to see, and staff were excellent!
