Switzerland in September?

Currently have a 2 month old baby, and we're hoping to get away in early-mid September for about a week (he'll be about 3 1/2 months)

Ideally we'll have a cottage or villa with a decent view, certainly not in cities. Will hire a car from the airport (Geneva/Basel/Zurich - somewhere where BA fly)

Is the weather ok in September? Any idea of a reliable site where I can book a villa?

I used to go to Switzerland on vacation in Septembers. I did this most years in early 2000s and loved it. A lot like east coast US weather when I was there mid-late September. The benefits are lower cost airfares, car rentals, hotels (sorry havent rented a villa there), and best of all less tourists. You will love it!

Can't guarantee obviously, but September can be very nice, with clear bright days. Not so warm as in the high summer, usually not too bad.
You can try the Swiss tourism website at http://www.myswitzerland.com (choose your language once it's opened). You will probably get more choice by going to the website of a particular town or village directly, if you know where you want to go.

Check out the Lavaux Vineyards on Lake Geneva. It will be harvest time. They are spectacularly beautiful.
