Processing time for Spanish Schengen Visa from Chicago
 

Hello,first of all I apologize for my bad English. I'm an Ecuadorian citizen, leaving in the US. I'm a Green Card holder. It has been 2 weeks already since i apppy for a Schengen visa. I planning to go to spain only, for 3 weeks. I had all my documents in order and even had some that were not necessary. I'm starting to panic because i havent recieved an answer. I know that i have plenty of time because my trip is in January. I was wondering about the processing time. I was told by the girl who recieved my documents that it would take a week and in their website they say it usually takes 15 days. What should i do other than wait? Thank you in advance. I'm a little scared.

Wait until 15 days are up and call them to ask about the status. Fifteen days -- is that working days?

Never applied with Spain but have applied with France, Germany, UK and Italy and all of them were very fast. Now, France had a bit of a fit becuase they didnt want you to apply more than 3 months before your trip (I think it was 3) but they approved anyways. Maybe Spain is waiting a few days to make sure you are within a 3 month timeframe? I wouldnt worry too much as you haven heard, if there was a problem, they would have told you sooner I think. I think it is just because you have applied so soon and they are in no hurry.
