hmmm...u r correct but was worried, specially since my mom has never travelled to Europe..

She can speak fluent English and I guess I will ask her to carry copies of her other airline tickets which will prove that she is there as a tourist..she leaves Czech in 3 days after arrival in flight to Paris and then in another 4 days from Paris to Rome by air... So this should convince the immi officer tht she is a tourist .. She will also hv my resident permit copy for CZ also..
thanks for the advises..:)

A Schengen visa is good for all / any Schengen Agreement countries (map and information here), so no worries about how long in which country (as long as one does not overstay the visa permitted time or leave the Schengen borders if on a single entry permit, as mentioned previously). Basically, intra-Schengen travel is treated pretty much like "domestic" travel. - but one can encounter border control or checks.

Lichtenstein, Romania and Bulgaria are future members, Ireland and the U. K. are not Schengen members (but Ireland is a member of the E.U.) Iceland, Norway and Switzerland are Schengen members, but not E. U. members (some folks seem to get confused about the two).

Believe me or not: Not only Ireland, but also the UK is a member of the European Union. Liechtenstein (not: Lichtenstein) is not a Schengen member, however, they have a bilateral treaty with Switzerland, so there are not border controls and there is no customs between these two countries.

Yes, we joined, together, in 1973!

Maybe jdiver was getting mixed up between EU and EUro? Ireland uses the Euro, we don't.

I am positive that there are several voices in the UK that would like to cancel this decision. And I am sure you will find voices in the R.o.I. that would claim that only 3/4 of Ireland uses the Euro, 1/4 is still waiting for liberation. :p

More then several, I'm sure. But, in a sense, for the short-term, non-EU/EEA/Swiss traveller, the fact that the UK is in the EU is largely irrelevant, since the UK is in neither the Schengen area nor the eurozone.
