Connecting time Amsterdam

I was presented 2 options for travel Vancouver to Cairo by my Agent

How realistic is the option with a 55 min connection in AMS

Look forward to hearing the replies

Please have your travel agent check that KLM and Egypt Air do interlining and you can check your bags (if any) all the way to Cairo. If they confirm, you should be able to make the Option 1 connection however it will be tight. In this case, and if it was me, I'd do the Option 2 connection.

Even carrying your bags it will could be a race to change planes within 55min in AMS. Just think if you have a delay getting to the gate -- although I imagine that you won't have to clear EU customs, that would be nearly impossible. (Yes, they have a special line for "short connections" but it still takes time to get through.)

I would relax and take the later flight. If you are adventurous then you could even zip into the city and be back in time for the later flight.

This is non-Schengen to non-Schengen - so just a case of walking from one gate to the next. Security is at the gate, so as long as you get to the gate before they close the flight you're OK.

Non-Schengen to non-Schengen I would probably risk 55 minutes as long as my flights are in the same booking - but I agree it's tight.

My experience with AMS is that the plane might land on time but then it can still taxi on the runway for another 15 minutes - I would rather take option 2
