Recommendations for Vienna: Hotel and Reception

ms. jmd001 is headed to Vienna (Wien) the first week of March 2010 for a conference. Looking for recommendations based on the following needs/desires:

Hotel
  • 5 to 6 rooms (a couple of rooms for up to 8 nights; some for only 4 nights; all with private bath)
  • Breakfast included
  • Very close to an U-bahn station (need to go to/from the Austria Center daily)
  • Internet access in the room (only having it in the lobby is a pain)
  • Around 160 to 170 Euros/night is the target
  • A place with a "fitness center" would be nice...

A place for a Reception
  • For 20 to 40 people
  • In a restaurant or hotel (same hotel as the rooms would certainly be convenient)
  • Appetizers and beverages only (not a sit-down meal)
  • Near the Austria Center or Stephansplatz would be great (needs to be very accessible by public transportation; near an U-bahn station would be great)

Thanks for whatever suggestions you can provide.

The Hilton Stadtpark and the IC would address your requirements.

The Hilton am Stadtpark is definitely a good possibility.

Another is Le Méridien.

For the reception, Palais Niederösterreich might be a good venue. Le Méridien could also handle this nicely.

Most regrettably, during the time frame needed, those properties are priced above her company's threshold of pain.

Does anyone have any experience with The Levante Parliament hotel,
Auerspergstrasse 9?

Larger conferences can overwhelm Vienna in terms of hotel availability, and accordingly prices rise dramatically.

I would have suggested the Arcotel Kaiserwasser, right by the Kaisermuehlen U-bahn station (which is the station for the Austria Center, so that is within walking distance from the hotel), but the rates rise from €119 on March 3rd to €300 on March 4th, which is when presumably the conference starts.

Have you looked on TripAdvisor.com for B&Bs/pensions in Vienna? Reasonably priced alternative.

Excellent suggestion, but they really want more of a full service hotel.

At this point, I believe they are negotiating with The Levante Parliament

Thanks to all for all the suggestions.
