Exclusive Tier?

from Etihadhelp thread.

"Hi there. Once the policy is implemented, there will be no mileage expiry to Exclusive and Platinum tiered members while they maintain these tiers. For the other tiered members (Bronze, Silver and Gold)"

What is the Exclusive tier and how do you get it in that case?

Hey Gabby2, I think this is the oft rumoured invitation only tier for members with immense mileages and/or serious sway with EY.

Last year I was chatting with one of the CMs and he mentioned this tier, in passing.

Probably it's like "Fight Club" - no one talks about it; and if you know about it you know about it, but if you have to ask... ;)

If you need to ask, you do not qualify.

Many ffp's have such a tier. More to do with influence and not the amount of flying a person does

Reported over 8 years ago. It pays to search...

The gate screens at AMS used to mention Exclusive for the priority lane.

I’d heard that even these guys (exclusive card holders) were fed up with the cuts :)

i expect it’s a bit like BA Premier, just without the proactive service on connections, protecting desirable seating, or providing a decent lounge service in out stations.

Sounds similar to Emirates iO (Invitation Only). https://www.executivetraveller.com/i...for-vip-flyers
It is mainly based on how much you spend (or how much spend you influence) on Emirates.

Though in the case of EY Exclusive, I pity those who spend that much on Etihad. Even if I was Abu Dhabi based I would probably make the trek to DXB instead of having to spend money on EY which is becoming more of an LCC everyday.

Influence and negotiated contracts, I've been told as a Platinum on the 380 going to London that it would be unlikely I'll ever get a F upgrade due to these contracted people who are guaranteed space if available :(

My opup rate has been zero on the LHR-AUH route for more than two years now I think

The exclusive tier isn’t like the IO tier on EK.

Exclusive is only for senior government officials + royal family.

EK IO requires $200k spend per year for 2-3 years before they offer it to you

I don't think you're missing out on anything. Considering the p!$$ poor implementation of things such as "free wifi" for Plats, what do you really think that they are going to do any better? As a whole, EY is just not a service orientated airline. The bread and butter is getting cost-conscious Y passengers from EU to far east & Australasia, although even that is not all that easy any more when you look at the route networks and poor schedules.

Let's hope that AirArabia AUH or AirArabia MidField Terminal (or whatever fluffed up name they choose) grows to cover the entire AUH operation. At least, and only then, will expectations of what level of service you're likely to receive on any given day, rotation, sector, are we approaching ramadan/eid/<insert other holiday>, or orientation of Jupiter & Mars.

Etihad is a great example of the wider AUH mantra "top notch, half ar$ed"

Ah yes, the culture of "unmitigated success"...
