Scheduled change, they cancelled my points upgrade

To cut a long story short. I booked Y MAN-BKK and upgraded both outbound sectors using miles. EY have since removed EY404 from the schedule and put me onto EY408, but back into Y. When I called, they said there is no availability on 408 for an upgrade on that day, so refunded the miles. I asked about moving me to the flights the day before (there is availability). but they want about 400 pounds extra, as per ticket rules and change in fare price.

I spent an hour on the phone trying to explain that I when I booked those flights, I chose these flights because there was upgrade availability on those days. They don't care. They said there is nothing in the fare rules about this and they will only rebook if I pay.

Anyone any experience on these sort of things?

Awful, awful service but sadly doesn't really surprise me. That happened not so long ago to me on BA, and they just booked me into a revenue fare bucket for the upgrade.

Doubtful you could get much done with EY. Maybe ask for a supervisor? Keep checking for upgrade space. The stress of dealing with EY for a dayflight is not worth it IMO.

Also - when calling don't mention the upgrade. Only request to be placed on the flight that has upgrade space menioining the other flight does not work for you. If successful call back and request the upgrade.
