LHR Etihad Lounge to close 5 October [and to launch ‘The House’]

I was in the LHR lounge on Friday night on the LHR - AUH flight and i got talking to one of the staff about rumors of the lounge closing and she said it was closing on the 5 October and being taken over by No.1 Lounges!

This is just mad.

So F and Residence passengers have to use a lounge which doesn’t even serve champagne?!

Source?

If this is true, it just goes to show how bad the situation is with EY! OUCH!

There are in serious trouble and Im beginning to think there is more to it than failed investments in Air Berlin and Alitalia!

What about J customers? I think paying Ł1800 for a return to AUH would get me a few glasses of champers in a lounge.

Just as I have the privilege of trying their F product, is also the stage when they add a nail in the coffin to confirm it is probably smart to switch airline.

Good ol’ Etihad. Bet this was a project for an intern from a local university tasked with “save us xyz dollars”.

Classic. Top notch, half assed!

If EY are really in big trouble financially I will be redeeming my AA miles over to Qatar instead.

I don’t think that they really take redeemers into account when making these calls?? If EY can’t make it work running A380s from LHR, where 85-90% of the passengers are connecting onwards and they can’t make any money running a lounge?! Well, EY has much bigger things to worry about than people spending AA miles with old Al Snackbar’s Qatari airline.

They will probably rope off a separate (teeny tiny) F area of the lounge with miniature bottles of prosecco for F pax & miniature bottles of champagne for residence pax
