AUH long layover options

Hi all,

Can someone please help out with some logistics regarding Abu Dhabi airport. Looking to travel with the Mrs and toddler LHR-India and potentially considering a 7.5 hr layover in AUH. No frequent flier status with any airline.

Is there somewhere in AUH (or just outside) where we can freshen up in either one of the lounges or perhaps an airport hotel to make the layover a bit more comfortable for the family?

Note 1: AUH arrival is approx 07:00, AUH-India is approx 14:30
Note 2: 2 UK passports and 1 Indian passport in the family

What are my options - if any?

Thank you.

Not sure if the Indian passport will be an issue. There's a Premier Inn attached to the airport but would mean going through passport control. Worth checking with them if they can do something for you

Alternatively there are paid individual sleeping pods but a toddler mightn't go for that. Love to know if anyone has tried them and if they are quiet and clean

Finally you can now pay for access to the Etihad lounges which may give a little respite but are bright and not conducive to sleep, they will be quite quiet for a while after 9AM though after that bank of European flights have left

Hope that helps

Indian passport can apply for a UAE E-Visa online and if they hold an USA visa then can get a UAE visa on arrival, although there will be a charge. I think with the duration of your layover you have enough time to go into the city but cost wise it might be better to just pay for the lounge.

Enthusiastic Flier,

My wife just transited through AUH on a 6.5-hour connection USA-India and used EY's Meet and Greet transit service, which includes access to the EY Premium Lounge. She said the service and lounge were wonderful.

I will post the full details after I get them from her. You would be escorted through the security checks, thus bypassing any queues, which would be helpful since traveling with a toddler.

That might be an option for you, but the cost is per person, so in your case it would be AED 325x2=650, which is roughly GBP 135.
