Frequent flyer 101

My partner has booked a flight for her mother from MSQ-AUH-MSQ. Just got an email from Etihad saying that the return flight has been moved from Friday to Sunday. That's a 48 hour change!

We've had hotel bookings and travel plans that are now a scuppered because of this. She doesn't speak English or Arabic, so we have to stay with her, take her to the airport etc. But now her flight is on Sunday (a working day in Dubai, where we're staying).

Basically it's super inconvenient and going to cost us 2 extra nights hotel + a day off work.

Do we have any recourse here?

Yes, ring up and ask.

Though given that they must have cancelled a flight to/from Minsk on the date in question there may be few options for travelling on the chosen date.

Etihad Airways in the first quarter of 2017 is reducing service to Belarus, as existing Abu Dhabi – Minsk service to be reduced from 7 to 3 weekly, effective 16JAN17. This route is currently served by Airbus A319 aircraft.

It is no surprise, I took this route 3 times in the last 3 months, the Y cabin was hardly half filled.. But the J class was full all the time.

Just an update, this route is revived for 2017..Reduced number of flights, thrice a week..!
