New flat beds on A320 in J
Just had a couple of flights AUH-MCT-AUH on an A320 with a new J layout (A6EIZ), angled flat bed seats 2 x 2 no IFE of any description.
For use on regional flights according to Purser. Quite comfortable. |

Just a few quick snaps...

Ah, the same seats as AA A321 transcon and QR on most of their 320s. Shame about the IFE, not sure what that's about.

The "special" A320.
|
The flat bed configuration isn't visible in the pictures. But the controller seems to have an icon that may be a flat bed.
Does "angled" mean turned away from the aisles, or does it mean it's flat but not horizontal, i.e. sloped-flat? Will all the A320s have it, and if so when? What does the "special A320" comment above mean, does it mean there's only one or two and there won't be more? [On AUH-CCU, QR operates a 787 with great reverse-herringbone horizontal flat beds, while EY had (last I flew it) an A320 with old-fashioned neckbreaker seats.] |

Is this going to roll out to the rest of the A320 fleet? Would be a nice improvement for the Colombo flights |

If they were going to update all their 319/320/321s within a reasonable time, they would want to boast about it. *Of course, the lack of screens could also be part of a cost-saving move to IFE on passengers' personal devices. They aren't the first airline to see that as the future. |
Interesting that the a320 they installed it on is some 24 years old..the oldest aircraft in the fleet and a second hand one from air Canada i believe
|
Just flew this layout on QR's A320 and was blown away by it! So I think EY are also following a good lead. Just not too keen on those stripes though.... And IFE would be good, I like the flight maps. I love my ipad mini but it doesn't cut the mustard :p

The purser is wrong. This is the CEO's 320 that is occasionally put into scheduled service. No plans to roll this out further on the narrow body fleet.

It is the oldest A320 in the fleet. It is the only A320 in the fleet that has CFM engines. It is the only A320 in the fleet that has these seats. It's special. |
