Etihad baggage + op up questions
Hello,
I am transiting AUH between two intercontinental economy class flights on a single ticket. I arrive in AUH early in the morning, and depart very late (after midnight) that night.
(1) Will Etihad retain my checked baggage (i.e. will they through-check to final destination), even with the 19 hour layover, so that I can go into the city?
(2) After arrival, can I visit one of the Etihad Guest Gold lounges before going into the city?
(3) I have read that Etihad sometimes op-ups passengers. Am I more likely to receive an upgrade using my Etihad Guest Gold or Freccia Alata card? I would prefer to accrue to Freccia Alata.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, yes, and while you are more likely to be upgraded as an EY Gold [with EY Plats ahead of all EY Golds in the pecking order], you are not likely to be upgraded at all so should not be thinking of op-ups.
