EY Lounge MEL?

Any update on this? The most recent article (October 2015) I read said it would be open in the first quarter of 2016, but I have not seen anything since. Is this still planned? Is there a timeframe?

Cheers,
Cameron

Supposed to coincide with the launch of the A380 +/- 2 months. I'd wager some time in the next 8 weeks.

Per a recent post I made at AFF:

A little off topic, but upon checkin for EY461 yesterday the checkin agents were adamant that the new Melbourne Etihad First Lounge (currently using shared AirNZ dive) WILL be opening April 1st. I raised my eyebrows at that, especially given April fools day and all. Anyone got any other data points? I have several more EY (cough AA) First flights departing MEL in the next 12 months so very keen to know.

The old UA lounge was still un used when I was walking past a few weeks ago. Some new signage and you have a lounge. But no idea if that is going to be used. http://melbourneairport.com.au/fligh...e-lounges.html

I think EY is taking over EK's old lounge space, EK has opened its new lounge for quite a while now so I think works should be completed before the first A380 flights.

....<snip>.......
With the commencement of A380 services June 1, The Residence guests will have access to a private lounge with custom furnishings, its own restroom and separate entry.

Other amenities in the main lounge include prayer rooms, a children's playroom, and a luggage room, high-speed Wi-Fi and lots of power outlets throughout.

The lounge is open to guests in The Residence, First Apartments and Business Studios, as well as Platinum, Gold and Silver members of Etihad Guest and eligible members of Etihad Airways Partners. Located in Terminal 2 adjacent to gate 10, the lounge will open approximately three hours prior to the departure of Etihad Airways' twice daily Melbourne-Abu Dhabi flights.
