UAE transportation and Global Entry

We were able to snag the F cabin on the A380 JFK-AUH in February. We have the Chauffeur services taking us to Abu Dhabi and then the return from Dubai to the airport. So we will still need transport between the 2, from what I'm finding there is no train service, only other option is the bus station. Is it worth it to hire a car service and any idea what the cost might be?

Also we booked our tickets with AA miles, both of us just got GE and I updated our AA profiles but I can't find out how to add it to our Etihad reservation, will it automatically apply or do I need to contact Etihad to put it on the reservation?

GE is a US immigration service that pre-screens you and then allows you to use a machine to enter the US. In the US, you also get PreCheck on AA flights if AA knows about your GE. But it has nothing at all to do with Etihad. When you are leaving from AUH and going through preclearance, look for the GE machines on the right wall.

PS You were looking for a train from Dubai to Abu Dhabi? You're not going to Europe, you know. There is a freight network, and a plan to run passenger trains by 2018 (unlikely).

With two of you travelling, I wouldn't waste time on the bus. There is no train. Go for a taxi - it will be around AED 250.

Also worth considering Uber (can get SPG points) or Careem (can get EY points), but taxis are plentiful and if taken from the official operator tend to be safe. The app booked cars may be slightly more expensive than a normal cab. Not all taxis will take a credit card, if that is a concern.

agreed with stargold, I worked in Abu Dhabi for 6 months and taxis are very convenient, just AED 250 as indicated above. I would use the UberX (generally Toyota Previa vans back in Jan 2015) service; you might get lucky and find that sometimes when Uber Black is slow, they switch to UberX and you'll get a Lexus for the price of that Toyota! Happened on the odd weekend afternoon.

Enjoy your trip! Was looking for F but only got J in my Feb trips. (AUH-JFK on 2/17 for 2 pax)...if anyone sees F open up, let me know!

Bear in mind Uber started charging a "cross-Emirate" charge where you go from AD-DXB or v.v. (can't remember but it was 40-50 AED) so I found that it works out to be considerably more expensive than a taxi. Not sure about Careem as I have never used it.

Thanks everyone for the advice, looks like we'll do either the taxi or Uber then.

@ Fayaree -good luck finding F space, they are inconsistent but have been opening up some space a few days prior to departure, hope it works for you!
