AUH-LHR equip change away from A380?

Was trying to get my seats situated and was told by phone agent that equipment change is currently in progress...

Flying AUH-LHR on EY 19 on Jan 6 in J.

Anyone else have had this happen to them?

My guess is that it will be a change to 777 and away from A380 which is very disappointing given that I booked the flight specifically to experience the biz studio product.

Mine was changed this week to a 77W and then at the last minute to an old 346.
Decent seat ended up being really crappy mid aisle kicked when anyone walked past.

But hey they look after us Platinums eh

Yes, happens fairly often. Some days there is only 1 of the 3 daily LHR-AUH flights using A380 now.

That would be unfortunate news to the many who have worked tirelessly (from AAdvantage, Guest Rewards and elsewhere) to redeem awards for the Apartment cabin

Yes, very annoying. Why advertise it as the A380 only for the change?

Usually when does the official change occur? I am on an AA award from DEL to MAD and will search for more straight routing if it's changed for sure...

How often and how predictable are these equipment changes? Does it happen to some routes more than others?

Apparently by beginning of next year only one of the flights will be a380,I was on the 20.05 flight from London on 19/11 and economy was empty, everyone has either 3 or 4 seats and they closed the back cabin of economy, was a great flight for me but no way was economically viable

Interesting. EY site still lists EY 11 and EY 19 as A380 aircraft. I hope they make a decision soon so I can find an alternative routing. If no A380 then not worth the extra stop in LHR to get to MAD.

It seems like some big marketing plot by etihad, they keep changing which routes have the a380 obviously to get people to fly with them on that route, with only 10 on order they r never going to offer many routes on 380

AUH-LHR EY 19 next may. Still claims its an A380 but can't select a seat and expert flyer says equipment change in progress.

SYD has had very few swaps if any. I see the bird driving home every night.

Clearly SYD is a much higher priority to keep an A388 on. Curiously EY455 becomes the LHR flight after it lands and then returns on the same routes.

Agreed, only reason I am flying EY on that route is for the A380. Whatever they are doing I hope they do it quickly so that we aren't held hostage. Worst thing would be to get stuck with an old A340 and extra stop

Or 2 x A320 EY/JU with a Belgrade stopover.

May is still 6 months away and I find it difficult to believe EY is already preparing an equipment swap so far out.
I'd think it's more like a glitch/error in the system, and an equipment swap is NOT in progress.
