Redeeming Etihad guest miles for AA flights
The current redemption chart for using Etihad miles to book AA is here:-

So I have, what I assumed are simple questions, which I sent to [email protected], including a link to the above table.
The response I got was to send them my phone number and Etihad guest number, so that they could get reservations to contact me (?).
I replied that I did not want to make a reservation at the moment, but I was enquiring as to whether the table was per booking, or per segment.
The reply was:-
...and of course they pointed me to the the table from which I initiated the question in the first place.
So basically two emails, no answer. In fact, they didn't even understand the question.
It's a very simple question, is it segment based or not.

Can you advise if the table is per segment or per journey ? For example, if I want to book DUB->LAX, the table suggests that this will cost 50K in B/F. This journey requires two flights, DUB->JFK and then JFK->LAX. So if booked on one ticket will the cost still be 50K guest miles one-way ?
Similarly, with regard to the table marked "domestic regions' redemptions", is this table correct even if my journey requires 2 flights. For example if I am flying HNL-LAS (via LAX) will this be 25K guest miles one-way ?
Finally, will the new carrier charge which comes into effect after the 8th of July be charged by Etihad when booking flights on AA using Etihad guest miles ?

Please note that the T&C has stated that the above booking prices are for one-way trip only. If you are redeeming miles from DUB-JKF, it will cost 50K miles for B/F and from JFK-LAX it will cost 25K for B/F as per the table ' Domestic flights redemption'.

AA does not fly DUB-LAX non-stop. AA will automatically route me via another city (possibly JFK or ORD). However, AA considers this as one, one-way flight in their redemption table, exactly the same as if they DID fly the route non-stop. This is a one-way flight involving a connection.
So my question (again) is. If I ask Etihad to book me on the exact same AA DUB-LAX one-way which involves a connection, will Etihad charge this as a single "Europe to USA" redemption, or will they charge it as a "Europe to USA" redemption plus a "USA domestic" redemption

Thanks for the answer, but it isn't at all clear, as you seem to be confusing "one-way" with one segment, which is a worrying level of confusion from someone working for an airline in a customer support role. I don't want to redeem DUB-JFK or JFK-LAX, I want to redeem for DUB-LAX.

Just get a response from our team, if you book a flight from DUB-LAX. It will be considered one way redemption ticket and it will be charged as "Europe to USA".

50K one-way in Biz. That's a pretty good redemption rate.

Could you let me know if you were able to book it for 50k in biz? In my experience with booking AA with Etihad miles it was always been charged by segment. For instance, my NYC to LIM flight was charged as NYC-MIA (domestic award) + MIA - LIM (international award)...
I was planning ahead, seeing how many points I need to accrue, I'm not booking for many months yet.
However not good to hear that real life experience does not match what Etihadguest has advised, AFTER it took 6 days for him to get a reply from the guest program.
If anyone else on here has booked an AA flight using Etihad miles that involved a connection, can you confirmed if you were charged per segment, or charged as if it was a direct flight ?

Was that a single booking with a single PNR, was there a stopover involved ?
I was planning ahead, seeing how many points I need to accrue, I'm not booking for many months yet.
However not good to hear that real life experience does not match what Etihadguest has advised, AFTER it took 6 days for him to get a reply from the guest program.
If anyone else on here has booked an AA flight using Etihad miles that involved a connection, can you confirmed if you were charged per segment, or charged as if it was a direct flight ?
