What's the best way to spend miles?
What do you think is the best way to spend your Etihad guest miles..
- Redeem them for a complete ticket?
- Redeem them for an upgrade to business or first?
- Use them in the etihad rewards shop?
- Use pointspay?
Would love to know what you think is the most rewarding way of spending miles.

just an example. I booked an F ticket from DUS-AUH for 37.000 miles plus 250€... guess that a good deal. upgrade from Y to C would have cost me approx. 29.000miles.
don't waste your money for point pay or the online shop. treat yourself and enjoy the trip

I agree with h1ghfly3r award tickets are the best use of miles,usually costing only slightly more than upgrades. Also you can chose to use cash plus miles which I have found to be a useful option.
FYI award tickets departing AUH pay much less tax than flights originating from Europe, my F reward ex AUH pay 80dhs (16euro) as opposed to a J award ex CDG over 200 euro

Airport upgrades only for me.
- Gives me the chance to see if I'm going to get an op-up anyway (Gold Elite) and pay in miles if not;
- Still earns me miles on the flight (unlike an award ticket);
- 50% off on the bigger upgrades (i.e. AUH-MEL for 35k) via ADCB credit card;
- Better U/G availability than advance U/G or award (the whole cabin opens up once check-in opens, as opposed to 2 seats only before check-in)

Does upgrading using miles cost the same number of miles at airport compared to online in advance?

Doesn't seem right.
