This is the price you pay for getting such an incredibly cheap ticket. It's certainly not unusual that deeply discounted fares (and to me this looks like some special tour operator fare) do not earn miles or any form of credit in any Frequent Flyer Programme.

EDIT: I found the fare rules on Expert Flyer for this fare - TAMSPL. The base fare is only €55!!!

That would be a hell of a deal, using this cheap fare and being able to upgrade and / or earn miles. :D

Like I said, I already was aware that I probably could not upgrade and even when I was telling the EY Agent he still refused to believe that and claimed that ALL flight booked on EY website are eligible for upgrades.

But still a nice deal as you pay only 0,015 € / km :cool:

But I think you didn't book on the EY website maybe that's why? I would ring their uae call centre sometimes different agents give different answers and if that doesn't work I would also still chance an upgrade at the airport.....it's worth a try!

It's definitely worth asking again at the airport just before flying, but I certainly would not expect to be able to upgrade this flight.

That it was not bought at the Etihad website does not really make much difference - this "T" fare is also available for purchase on their website - shown in a separate "Breaking Deals" column - given that it is not one of the normal Economy (Saver/Value/Freedom) classes normally available:

And given that it is not one of the normal Economy classes (Y,B,H,K,M,Q,L,U,V,E) for which upgrade amounts are published it is extremely unlikely that any agent anywhere will have the authority to enable such an un-upgradeable T fare to be upgraded using miles.

I reckon you'll still get status miles.
