I wouldn't bank on being able to upgrade an AA miles ticket using Plusgrade, though it might happen. I've had EY award tickets offered the Plusgrade option.

What's the mileage difference between AA and EY, and what's the cash price?

Just for reference.. Got the upgrade email this morning offering upgrade from Pearl Business to Diamond First for all 4 sectors of my trip to SYD next week. Attached is the screenshot showing the sliders at their preset state when I went into the site. I've bid on 2 sectors so will let you know how I get on..

Bids accepted on both sectors' so I will be flying Diamond all the way to SYD!

LHR to AUH 450
AUH to SYD 550

Top tip.. Go to expedia and check out the cabin loads for your flight prior to your bid. On the AUH to SYD sector, only 12 seats were occupied in Pearl so the chance of all 12 pax bidding is very slim. LHR to AUH loads were very heavy so I'm surprised I bagged that one!

Upgrade

I just completed a 500 upgrade business to First on Emirates out of UK to DXB, enjoyed the highest degree of luxury. Very pleased.

Personal choice, of course, but for me the LHR-AUH price seems high compared to AUH-SYD. 14 hours for 550 or 6 hours for 450?

Great that you got what you wanted, and 1000 for a day in First is probably a good price, but I'm surprised the SYD sector was so "cheap".

I agree Wozza.

LHR to AUH is overpriced in comparison.

I REALLY wanted the AUH - SYD upgrade and in reality would have bid slightly more (around 650 was my limit) but the loads were so light in Pearl that I was pretty confident of bagging the upgrade.

I wasn't initially going to bid on the LHR - AUH leg but I figured as it was a day flight out of LHR and its the start of an epic adventure holiday I would go for slightly more than the minimum and if I got it great, if not so be it.

Checked in online to seat 1A on both sectors!

Fair enough. The EY F product is very nice indeed.

Make sure you have a cigar in the F lounge at AUH.

Question :

If I purchase discounted fare of Economy or Business, will I be offered to bid for upgrade?

Thanks.
