Price jump

Hi,

Anyone know why emirates prices jumped by over 30%?? and if its gonna go back down?

i've been checking prices for this one flight for the last 3 weeks and prices have been the same, until i checked recently they went up drastically, and i'm talking bout all the neighbouring dates for that month.

i know its crazy.. i mentioned it here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/emira...e-tickets.html

absolutely insane.. 6000+ for a trip from dxb to jfk..

Yes, It's crazy.

Just checked the price for possible return flight HAM-CMB at the end of August. Today the price is EUR 776 - 2 weeks ago it was EUR 586. An increase of more than 30%!!!

It's coming up to be Dubai's businest season now the summer is here and everyone is leaving. Schools finish tomorrow, and apparently they have over 100'000 one way flights booked for the next 2 weeks, so it may be a case that all the flights OUT of Dubai are sold in the cheaper seats. "Maybe" i am just guessing.. This week and the last week of August/first week of September will be the busiest weekend of the year. Also, anyone looking Mid September, sees the end of Ramadan, so again, a busy period for them European Airlines hight their prices arounbd Christmas, EK do the same this time of the year.

Voting with my feet

I have now decided to vote with my feet.

QR will fly me TXL-CMB via DOH for EUR 455^. EK wants EUR 777:td: ex HAM. Berlin is only 1.5h from Hamburg on the ICE train (EUR 2 x 29). EUR 264 (34 %) saved:D.

I was looking at the prices for flights from London do Bangkok in November. One day: 405 GBP, the next day 566 GBP. :td:

What do you mean :td: ???

Maybe the flight(s) the next day are full... so why don't you just go with the 405 GBP ticket??

Besides, 405 GBP seems reasonable to me.

I realize DXB is a bit of a detour, but how much are BA and TG charging for the same ticket??

Otherwise, Get your own Jet !!! ^ ^ ^

emirates.com used to have Special Fares under the section Special Offers. i noticed this entire page has disappeared from the site as of 2 days ago. perhaps EK is trying to lead a charge in the airlines industry to drive up rates. way to go EK!~

The sales fares being offered that I was looking at did have a purchase by 30 June requirement and with the 30/06 having gone, doesn't seem too surprising that fares are higher from 1 July

Fares going up is a risk that you take if not purchasing at the time of finding them

I see what you mean. But keep in mind that this special frame on the homepage is - and always has been - temporary and country-specific.

E.g.: on any given day you might find it on some country's homepages and not on others'.

It's even language-specific. E.g.: right now if you chose Hong Kong as country (top right), you get special offers in Cantonese (top right), but not in English. And this is for exactly the same product/ticket.

I believe in Marketing it is called "Territorial Price Discrimination".

The special fares page is always there.. they just remove if from the front page to annoy users :p

Change the letters highlighted in bold to your countrys TLD ( AE for UAE, UK for United Kingdom, TH for Thailand, so on and so forth to see fares for your country )

I guess there was a general price increase last week.

We booked a ticket for my GF from HKG to DXB in September, but her Visa was not processed, so we asked until which day the can hold the booking. The told us, they can hold the booking for one month, but after the 26th of July the price will change (for this ticket around 10 % more) due to a fax they received from from Emirates headoffice regarding a general increase starting that day...

30% We booked a RT tkt for YYZ-DXB in Business for $3200 USD the last week of June. About a week later, plans were changing and considered modifying dates. Same tkt was/is $7500! :td: Hope DH manages to stick to original travel dates!
