Catch 22 Situation

So. I have approx. 90,000 miles to spare in my account and need to fly to New york next week for an emergency.....what would you guys recommend?

use the miles for a free round trip ticket in Y?

or

use the miles for upgrading to J back and forth?

....hmmm

I've found that the best value for burning miles is in upgrades. Think about it, a return ticket costing about $1500US, or paying that $1500 and getting something worth at least 5 times that.

+1

Although I would be inclined to do the on-board upgrade-- just incase of an op-up! Unless you need to limo transfers

knowing you are going to be in a nice caddy driven home in nyc is pretty sweet also ;)

not to mention being picked up..

upgrade for SURE. Its a real value if you can use it for your upgrades since you get the limo and fly business class - its a long haul flight - remember!

Upgrade for sure, you still earn miles on a DXB-JFK-DXB and there is always the risk that you could always then get bumped to first - yes - it has happened to me even on a ug ticket!

Enjoy
