Thank you Gurus for your inputs!

I had a question about the following comment.

I am using the mileage calculator on

http://www.skywards.com/Mileage_Calculator.aspx#blue

and I am getting 16800 miles.

IAH-DXB-BOM
BLR-DXB-IAH

(BOM-BLR will not be on emirates)

am I missing something?

Not sure how you got that - it's 17000 tier miles.

I am getting 16800 as well:

IAH-DXB-IAH - 14000 tier miles
DXB - BOM - 1100 tier miles
BLR-DXB - 1700 tier miles.

But if they are on one ticket, that's not how it's calculated.

IAH-DXB-BOM is 8000, BLR-DXB-IAH is 9000, so that adds up to 17000.

Aha! Now I see! The 17K using your explanation and the 2.5K welcome promo miles. That is 19.5K indeed.

Thanks a lot guys!

What about this fare code?

WAS EK X/DXB EK MNL Q WASMNL317.00 323.00EK X/DXB XFIAD4.5

doesnt seem to make any sense

I am flying washington (IAD) to manila (MNL).

Thanks

I would guess a Q class (Saver) fare.

Things may have changed in the three years since this thread was last posted on.

I checked the matrix airfare search (http://matrix.itasoftware.com/search.htm) and it said it is an "L" economy fare. Dont really see an L at all in the code above.

Hello, I just booked a trip JNB-DXB-SFO, and was aiming to credit to Alaska Mileage plan. When I've booked EK tickets in the past, a Flex Fare would earn 100% miles, and a saver fare would earn 50%. I booked a Flex Fare, but then noticed upon booking that the fare class is U, which earns 50% of total mileage on AS.

Is there an easy way to calculate the fare of a Y, E, R, or W fare; and reissue the ticket if possible? I used to use my Skywards number to show Flex fares (which would be Y, E, R, or W) but it seems the system has changed.

Y, E, R are now flex plus fares, W fares at Flex fares - you want to look at earning rates on AS for Y, E and R and then make the change to a Flex Plus. Note there will be a change fee payable as well as the fare difference.

I booked a Flex Fare and it booked into U, so U must also be flex. AS credits 100% for W fares, so I'd like to upfare to that if possible (still in 24 hour window). Is there a way to search fare costs for different fare classes on the website or otherwise? Thanks.

Unfortunately the website's problem is that it books you into the lowest fare available in a particular fare family and W is the most expensive Flex fare. If you give the EK call center a call, they can book the specific fare class for you. As you are in the 24 hour DoT window, I think they can simply cancel the entire thing and rebook it, but buying a specific fare class can only be done by a travel agent or over the phone with EK. They may charge you a "Booking over the phone" fee though.

Apologies for bumping this thread, but is there any kind of way to see what booking class EK uses before actually booking the flight? I wanna make sure it's in one of the eligible classes... I compared it to ITAMatrix but the exact fare price doesn't show up there, and there are multiple fares with the same price, but different classes. Availability for the flight is also wide open so I can't eliminate any classes. All EK tells me before booking is "Economy/Flex", but I have no idea what class that might be or if that's even related to the booking class. What's the way to go here? Aside from booking through a travel agent/EK call centre...

I'm also trying to figure out what class of ticket we have purchased for going RDU-BOS-DXB round trip (the BOS-RDU portion is on Jet Blue, but everything was booked on Emirates.com on one ticket.
