Silver tier expiry
 

Just received an email today saying that my silver tier will expire end of this year. i earned that last year in sept and emirates website is saying that my silver tier will be valid for the rest of the year that i earned it plus additional 14 months. if my calculation is correct, it shouldnt expire till feb 2010.

has anyone experience anything like this before. please shed some light regarding this. tried emailling emirates and they are just not replying to my emails.

Ifyou earned your silver status in September 2007, it will expire February 2009.

yes feb 2009 not feb 2010. not still dont know why they have sent me an email saying it will expire end of this year...i cant see any changes on the website at all.

Validity is 14 months, so it will be Feb 2009. Check your Skywards Silver card as it should be printed on it. Mine has the expiry date printed on it. Did you receive your Silver card at the start of this year?

By the end of this year I will have accrued enough tier miles to retain silver. 2 MAN-BKK return trips are enough for me to retain silver and I have 1 MAN-BKK trip booked before the end of the year. Have already made 2 trips, but one was a reward flight.

You need to earn enough tier miles each year to retain the status.

You can still enjoy the benefits of Silver until Feb 2009, but if you have not accrued enough Tier miles this before end of this year then you will lose the benefits after that date. You have to earn 25K Tier miles each year to retain, previously it was 20K.

its valid till Feb 2009 and it will be printed on the card.

I see you are a regular on the MAN/BKK route with EK. I have been asking on another thread for details of the approximate time of meal service on the DXB/BKK BKK/DXB and DXB/MAN sectors having already been kindly provided with MAN/DXB details.

Your tier miles (EQMs) get reset at the end of every calendar year to 0. So i you have not made the cut in terms of required miles, you get 'demoted'. But you can continue in your tier till the expiry date.
