Just wanted to know if DXB-LHR flights have the new lie flat business class seats. I checked flight schedules and 4 out of 5 flights have the 777-300ER. Does that mean that I will get the new seats provided I am on the 777-300ER? Or are some of these aircraft not upgraded yet? I know for a fact that EK 001 gets the upgraded 777.
Thanks in advance!

EK001 has lie-flat seats daily ex Tue. EK005 often has lie-flat seats but if you get unlucky it will have the worst seats of all the EK fleet - the ones with 46" pitch. (In all of the past three days, EK005 operated with the old J seats) EK029/007/003 are not scheduled to have the lie-flat seat but I have seen EK003 with lie-flat seats on occasion.

Well it seems odd that they dont have the new business class seats, even though they re on the 777-300ER - according to the EK website, all 777-300ERs are refurbished.
I'm confused now.

There are two three different types of 777-300ERs. The first has the Sky cruiser seats in F and the 'regular' J seats. This is used on EK003/007/029 and EK001 on Tue. The second has Sky cruiser seats in F and lie-flat J seats. This is used on EK001 daily ex Tue. The third has suites in F and lie-flat J seats. This is not used to LHR but to other cities like CDG, JFK and JNB.

Hi sadiqhassan how on earth do you know all this? I really get hacked off booking F class and ending up on aircraft with the older seats. These seats are really not worth the premium you get charged for F.

Once the upgrade of the older 777-300's is complete, we'll have to moan about something else

I fly this route fairly often. My purely anecdotal observation is that EK1 is a safe bet for the new seats, but that also more and more of the flights seem to have them now as well. Whereas it was pot luck about 6-9 months ago, I think now we get the newer seats more often than not. It is a big difference and the sooner there is consistency across the board, the better.
