I was looking at going on the two A380 launch flights from Dubai to JFK and back to Dubai.

I looked again yesterday and realized there has been a substantial fare hyke over the last weekend.

Why have they done this?

From a dummy booking I did at the end of last week, more than half the Economy seats are empty on the two flights, EK 3801 and 3802.

There is about 3 weeks to go before the aircraft launch. Why are the flights so empty? Is it because of the Middle-East crisis? Wrong time of the year? Does EKmirates prefer to have a rather empty flight launching the service?

As to the best seats, I would say not the ones on the wing, the wings are huge and so are the engines, your parents would not see anything. A window seat and an aisle seat with an empty seat in the middle seems like the best choice.

I am actually booked on 44A for my trip back DXB to JFK. According to the Emirates seat map , 44 is well in front of the wings but not sure how accurate that is. its the 2nd row in economy ...

If you are in the first few rows of the Economy cabin, you will not be sitting on the wings.

Good point...why is the aircraft so empty? If EK can't fill a single A380 on its most prestigious route then how is it going to be fill an entire fleet of 58 A380s?
Also-what Mid East crisis are you referring to?

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran test-fired nine long- and medium-range missiles Wednesday during war games that officials said aimed to show the country can retaliate against any U.S. and Israeli attack, state television reported.

Looks like some other flying objects are cruising around the region...

This is the EKmirates A380 cabin layout diagram. The lower deck will be quite tight!

Looks like business class will have a mixture of forward and rear facing seats? Am I right in thinking window faces rear and it's aisle "partner" faces forwards?
From MMB even numbered rows have seats in B,D,G,J....and odd numbered rows have seats in A,E,F,K. It looks like even rows face forwards and odd rows face backwards.BA have rear and forward facing seats but A(rear) and B(forward) are in the same row!

I do not like the Business Class seating arrangement. I would not like facing backwards to the way the plane is flying. Flying on my own I would not accept having to face a total stranger during the whole flight.

I just did another dummy booking for the lower deck in Economy (no Economy Plus).

We must take into account that EK probably gave away a lot of seats to Airbus, the Press, TVs and various EK guests.

Flight 3801 from Dubai to NYC has filled up a bit since my last trial.

Empty seats count as of the last hour - EK3801.

row 43: 0/10
row 45: 1/10
row 46: 4/10
row 47: 3/10
row 48: 3/10
row 49: 4/10
row 50: 4/10

row 52: 0/6
row 53: 2/6

row 54: 0/10
row 55: 0/10
row 56: 0/10
row 57: 5/10
row 58: 6/10
row 59: 6/10
row 60: 4/10
row 61: 3/10
row 62: 4/10
row 63: 6/10
row 64: 6/10
row 65: 6/10

Hi everyone,

I' ll be flying with Emirates Airbus A380 in economy class..I wanna ask if anyone knows about the seat that has bulkhead behind it. All the bulkhead comments are actually for the seats those called bulkhead row. However this is the one in front of it. Anyways is there any limited seat recline for those seats?? Because the flight is 14:35 hours direct flight(SYD-DXB) I wanted to see if I could recline all the time without disturbing anyone.. It says on official site that recline is 6 inches but nothing bout the seats im talking about. Any help or suggestions??(The seat Im talking about is 51G/65G/78G and so on)
Here is the Emirates A380 Economy Class Seating Chart:

Thanks in advance

I hesitate to give up my secret here because I love it so much, but my favorite Emirates A380 economy seat is 81K (I try to get it on JFK-DXB route regularly)- because it is behind an exit row but where the plane curves- leaving an empty space in front of the seat. There is lots of legroom and even enough space to get out to the aisle in front of your seat without having to disturb your neighbors. And in the window with space to lean. It's not near the bulkhead so limited baby-related noise (basinet seats are in bulkhead)

Downside is that it's sort of close to a serving area so can be a bit of noise- but worth the tradeoff I think and better than being near the bathroom.

I heard from an Emirates agent that 51K has the same set-up but haven't seen with my own eyes.
