Totally agree. Flown EY quite a bit this year. Seats are way better than Ek. Service is quite decent. AVOD is not bad(EK is better) but thats all EK has at present ICE. The seats are bad and not worth the money they charge at all. The only thing EY has to work on is AUH airport. The ground services are pretty bad and I think when the new terminal opens that problem should be sorted out. But so far this year flown 5 times on EK & 7 times on EY and I have to say EY has been the better of the two.

Hi there,
does anyone have experience on the EY A345? I will fly from AUH to SYD and don't know if its better to take the EK nonstop on the A345 from DXB or on EY the nonstop on the A345? Which one has the better seats in J? Any experiences? Thanks! |

Have noticed the same with mega price hikes from EK over the past few months and nothing to do with fule surcharges. DXB- BOM 22.5% increase, DXB - MAN crazy increase, they are £600 more than EY. I also agree that flying out of DXB is far more expensive than flying from outside.

Now for J they seem to have jumped about £1,000 return fare from when I last booked it in March of this year - so my last flight was with CX (not as good in my view, but a lot cheaper) and I think it will be the same this time. EK will lose me forever if they do not offer at least competitive fares. If anyone from EK reads this, please take note - people are noticing the huge price rises (we know about fuel costs, but these rises are much greater than comparable airlines) and we will vote with our feet! |
I have flown EY extensively this year and every flight has been great. The seats on EY are way better than EK. Their AVOD not bad at all. Service is pretty much same as EK. The lounge is better than the overcrowded EK lounge at DXB and above all the prices are much better than EK. I mainly use EY for CGK and its the cheapest flat bed you can find out of DXB. Overall I would definately recommend EY.

I agree with this assessment as well.
3 Flights Ek and 5 EY this year. I live in Dubai and willing to make the 1 hour drive to Abu Dhabi Airport to board EY flights. Also consider that the F & J lounges at Abu Dhbai are both fully renovated and re-opened this year. They are miles better than EK's. Were I see EK being better is:- 1- Inflight Entertainment (EK has much wider choice) 2- Food on Ek is somewhat better (avoid the steak on EY at all costs !!) 3- Frequent Flyer program on EK is better since if u cancel a redemption ticket, u get u miles back on Ek, not soon EY). All else, EY is on top.

Despite this, it seems that pax still willing to pay big bucks to Fly Emirates. It's average load factor was 79.8% in 2007, and is projected to rise for 2008.
Bottom line-as long as people are willing to pay the extra money, then no reason for EK to offer competitive fares. |
