EK412 vs EK406, onwards to CBR

I got the option of either:
EK412 to SYD, then catching a (tiring) bus to Canberra, arriving around 1PM.
EK406 to MEL, then catching QF flight to CBR, arriving around 9AM.

I would be arriving on 5 JAN.

Option one will cost me just the extra $20US approx to go on EK412 ($0 for the bus ride, as I already a ticket)); but will earn me extra 1029 Skywards miles (with the tier+class+online bonuses).

Second option will cost me $43AU (taxes for a QF award booking) plus $20~ taxi fare from CBR to home.

I can't see point in catching QF SYD-CBR as all morning flights are on the DASH (not so found of flying them), and the distance/cost isn't justified.

The question is:
- Are the extra 1029 miles worth the 3hr pain and DVT of the tight bus seat? (it kinda ruins the whole suite experience onboard the A345)

If you need the extra miles (i.e. if it will bring you closer to an award that otherwise you wouldn't be able to get) then I would choose the more painful way. EK also offers through fares to Canberra; normally the fare is just the DXB-SYD/MEL fare + $50 or so for the add on - might be something worth looking into.

Cheers,
