What are the benefits of Skywards Silver?

Hello EK FTers

I searched for this info, couldn't find anything, sorry if its a repeat
DO Silver Skywards member get upgrades based on their status? I have a a trip in sight and will make Silver with Emirates, if I fly with EK. Am unsure if future perks can justify in taking this slightly expensive EK flight.
Please guide.

Thanks!

Priority ckeck in (no long lines), extra baggage (32 kg vs. 20 kg) Business class lounge in DXB, are three perks for silver members, which make travel easier.
Do not count too much for the upgrades: yes possible, but a lot of gold members are in front of you...

Avoiding long lines with EK certainly has some perks in Asia.

How is the business lounge offered to EK Silvers?

During peak times (in the mornings) the Silver Lounge is too overcrowded. But in the afternoons it is a good place to relax.

With your silver card you might also be able to visit a lounge at your airport, not just in Dubai.

Really, EK doesn't have it advertised (usage of other lounges).

I see you're a QR Silver, how do you think it compares with EK Silver? I am already a QR silver and haven't traveled on QR since getting this status.

Use of lounges is only (officially) allowed in DXB and CMB AFAIK.

Agreed, there is a problem with it being full and nowhere to sit, but it is certainly better than walking round the airport for 3 hours trying to find somewhere to sit.

Looking forward to the new terminal and hope there will be more lounges that may elevate the problem, well at least for a few years.

Agree 100% I have heard a lot of people complain about crowding in the lounges - and I agree that it is a major problem - but it is not due to EK denying or neglecting the fact that it needs more lounge space, it is due to the fact that it is expanding too fast. Whenever the lounge is crowded, the terminal area is 10x worse

Cheers,
