Emirates Baggage Allowance
I'm flying from KHI to LHR via DXB. Just wanted to confirm how many pieces of checked in luggage i'm allowed. According to the website, i'm allowed 2 pieces of no more than 20kg. However, I've heard that all flights coming into the UK only allow 1 piece per person. Thanks!

Check your ticket for baggage allowance weight because it varies. Usually ex UK tickets are 30K and ex Pakistan tickets are 20K.
As far as I know, as long as the total weight is below 20/30K you can check as many pieces of luggage as you like. cheers |
Don't even get me started on baggage (hand and checked) regulations (real and made up) on Emirates. It's always been a challenge ex-KHI where EK literally changes things every two weeks. However, as of three weeks ago, they were enforcing the 20kg checked plus 6kg handbaggage policy for UK flights. Earlier in the year, for US bound pax, they were enforcing 2 X 30 kg if you did not have an onward connection on a US airline, in which case the limit was 2 X 25 kg).

Although I agree that EK changes baggage allowances, I don't agree that this is a bad thing. You are always guaranteed the minimum (2 x 23K to N.American and 20K everywhere else) and depending on the time of year, specific flights, destination you may get a bonus on top of that. The amount you are allowed is usually printed on the ticket to make things less confusing.

I just called up Emirates. Total weight should be no more than 20kg :(

Just received my e-ticket receipt and to my great surprise, bagage allowance is 40 kilos in Business Class for a LHR-DXB-BLR round trip !!!
Called the travel agent to confirm and that's apparently the case ... I'm quite amazed ! I thought it would have been only for First passengers ... |
That is pretty weird given that
http://www.emirates.com/ca/Traveller...AQ/Baggage.asp says F gets 40 and J gets 30 on weight concept. however, on piece concept, both have the same allowance. i figure that yours is a weight concept, but haven't seen F & J the same on weight concept... hmmm... -t. |
the luggage allowance varies by route.
http://www.skywards.com/standardpopu...ource=Standard Both Skywards Silver and Gold members are entitled to free excess baggage allowances on their flights, with Silver members entitled to an extra 12kgs, while Skywards Gold members will enjoy an extra 16kgs, above those shown on the ticket*. * Please note that ON SOME ROUTES [my capitalisation], baggage allowances may already include these extra amounts, if that is the case Skywards Silver and Gold members will be entitled to the higher of the two amounts but not to both. ian. :) |
