How Bad is the 332?

I've seen that the econ. seats only have 32 in pitch and the seats are supposed to be very hard but is biz class worth the extra $? We taking the DXB-NBO flts and have biz class seats right now, 2 on the side and am hoping it's worth the (much) higher fare? No one seems to have anything good to say about this a/c though.

I think the A330 is great :) Economy isn't too bad - 32" pitch is more that a lot of other carriers. Also, the seats are wider, and I always found them comfortable. You won't get ICE though.

In business, the pitch is great, but the width annoys some (it's 2x3x2 in business). The service and food has always been pretty good IME.

Depends how much extra it is, and whether or not it's your money :)

Cheers,
Rick

Although I try and avoid 330s, I was forced to fly them in Y twice this summer (all non 330 flights were full.) It was not bad at all, definately bearable. The IFE, even though not ICE, was amazing. In Business you get VOD but it's via a crummy in seat video thing. I would personally not pay the extra $ for J on the 330 but I know plenty of other people who would.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, it's a LOT extra and it is our money, but it's also our vacation! I could use some UA miles for one tkt but it takes 2 days to find out availability from EK and I hate to cash in one of our tkts just to find out there is no award seat available.

If you are travelling as a couple I don't see Y-Class as a big problem in the A330, since you do have a 2-4-2 seating in Y-class (3-4-3 in a 777 can be a problem though if the plane is full because you will most probably have someone next to the two of you, with some exceptions in the back of the plane).

If you want to save the money, get yourself two seats (one window, one aisle, AB or JK) in row 34-36 via skywards seat reservation. the pitch is 2-3-2 back there. and spend the money during your vacation.

Most of the 330 are well worn. Y is tight, C is better for the legroom but the aircrafts feel in need of an upgrade. Having said that going to NBO there is not much choice in airlines.

I was recently on a 332 in Y between DXB and HYD. I thought that the plane looked fine - much nicer Y on a lot of US carriers. I had no issues with the seat pitch, but I am only 5' tall, so that probably explains it. :)

Service was great. I heart EK! ^ ^ I actually applied for a job with emirates group because I love this airline (and Dubai!) so much. :)

Yes agree with that, my wife and I had seats AB on the A330 and had a great flight with no-one to bother you trying to get in or out.

My husband is 6'2'' so think we are going to stick with our C seats after all-the seat pitch in Y is too tight for that length of a flt for him. To save money, I could fly coach but what fun would that be?

If legroom is the issue, EK J on the A330 is pefect. The seat may not be the most comfortable but you get a lot of legroom. I could only find one picture with the increased legroom in J and it's quite poor quality but will give you a general idea

Thanks, and I checked airliners.net for pix also-definitely looks more comfortable for my husband so I will just enjoy it also!

Not much of a choice? KQ and BA J are far superior, and you can also fly Swissair, KLM, Gulf, and a host of others.

The OP is flying DXB-NBO so BA,LX,KL are out. GF does not fly to NBO.

Thanks for the photos and coach does look tight-especially since that one photo doesn't look like the seatback is even reclined all the way. I wouldn't be so neurotic about this fare if we were going to receive EQM's with United, not just miles. KQ is much less expensive but that 2:30am departure does not work for us.
