Conjunction Ticket - DXB-JFK-DCA
I'm not sure if I've got the term correct but this is my situation.. I already have a ticket from DXB to JFK and will now need to get a ticket from JFK to Washington (DCA pref). Do you know if I could have EK staff do it? Obviously, I could buy a separate ticket but I figured that if I add it to my existing ticket/reservation then EK would be responsible for delays etc.
any thoughts? |
The only way that EK will be able to add on the JFK-DCA segement onto the same PNR is by cancelling the ticket you have now and reissuing it. Usually XXX-DXB-JFK tickets are the same price as XXX-DXB-JFK-WAS/BOS tickets so it shouldn't cost you too much more.
If you buy a separate ticket through EK, and it is on a separate PNR they won't be liable to protect you in the case of a delay. cheers |
transit
Understood .. so I'll get a separate ticket from JFK as cancelling it, etc works out to too much $$. Anyone have any thoughts on the required transit time at JFK, I will get in at 2:40pm on a Sunday and there is an American connection to DCA at 4:15 .. enough time?
|
Possibly enough time, but definitely not if something goes wrong - bags left behind in Dubai and you need to file a claim (after waiting an hour for them not to show up), delay in customs, airtrain not working, security line at AA really long, etc, etc.
|
If you have luggage that isn't checked through, then definately not.
|
Even if the EK staff at DXB check your bags through to DCA, they will appear on the baggage claim at JFK since it is your first port of entry into the USA.
They will then need to be collected, cleared through US customs and then re-checked onto your flight to DCA. I too think this will be tight as EK usually arrives a bit late. |
