EK On-time Performance?

Greetings. I'm considering flying Emirates to HKG in the fall. The return journey would see me flying the "wrong" way from HKG-DXB-LHR on EK, with a 2:45 connection to AC for the return to YYZ. Since it's a four-leg journey (including the stop in BKK), I'm a bit concerned about making the connections throughout since the AC flight will be on a different ticket and I'll be unprotected in case of delays.

Based on typical experience, do I have anything to fear or should EK pull through and get me back to LHR in time to catch the AC flight?

BTW, the outbound isn't a concern since scheduling permits a full day in London and a stopover in Dubai. Also, I did a search but only found comments from 2001.

Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

Will you be flying EK3/AC859? If so, I wouldn't worry. I fly this route frequently, and although EK3 does get frequent delays (not sure exactly why though,) it is usually only for 10-15 minutes.

If flying any other of the EK flights EK7/EK29 you should be fine. These flights aren't delayed as frequently.

EK1 is the only flight for which I would be the least bit concerned. There is usually some rush at LHR when it arrives, and lots of rush at Dubai on departure which can slow things down. But regardless, you should still make your connection.

I am surprised that you weren't able to get everything on 1 ticket. Usually AC / EK have end on end ticketing agreements (everything on 1 ticket, with separate fares.)

I have had no problems combining AC YYZLHR Q fares with LHRDXB or LHRDXBKHI L/Q/M/Y fares.

Cheers

Thanks very much for the info :)

I was actually leaning toward EK 385/001, but now I'll look at my options a bit more carefully. I wasn't aware that it was possible to get AC and EK flights onto the same ticket, so I'll also look into that.

If you are flying on a day with nonstop HKG-DXB flights, EK381 connects well to EK1/AC849 (or AC857 depending on the time on year)

Cheers
