There is on the new 777s and refitted 747s (nearly all are done now). That will just leave the 767s without PTV in economy and AVOD.

Hint - check out what routes DJ has (and doesn't have) to CBR.

I don't want to go too OT, but this is an interesting issue that I never quite understood.

I am aware that EK does not fly with full loads, and the QF/NZ have much more attractive FF programs not to mention that they are in alliances. Is EK really hurting them so badly in the trans-tasman market?

Yes - loads on trans-tasman are lower than any other segment for NZ (not sure if its true for QF) and I imagine yields are also poor. EK massively undercuts the other airlines in all classes.

Of course any favours QF recieve is always "Because we have to maintain routes to certain unprofitable regional routes"....I'd love to find out which ones are actually unprofitable

I was watching the F1 last night and the Emirates sponsorship of McLaren got me thinking what other extremely expensive sports Emirates sponsor. My list so Far:

F1- Mclaren
Premier League- Chelsea
Football World Cup- Germany 2006
Horse Racing- The Melbourne Cup
Super 14 Rugby - Western Force
AFL – Collingwood (Only Australian will
Americas Cup - Team Zealand

Plus they sponsor several other major events that I will not bore with the detail.

They seem to focus on some of the most expensive sports and throw Millions of Dollars at them. I would be very surprised if this comes from the Emirates Budget maybe a little of the cash comes from the Royal Family ;)

No I am not suspicious :D

NB: Good one them for supporting the worlds sporting events and teams! ^

The UAE's elite -- including those that are part of EK management -- are big fans of higher-end sport and buying access to entertain their clients, friends and family. And entertain well they do. :)

US business elite (aka a well-heeled company's management team) do much the same for the favorite sports of the management team; but the sports appreciated more widely in the US are generally more "plebian".

They don't sponsor Chelsea anymore, that finished last year. They'll be sponsoring Arsenal from next year, and the new Arsenal stadium is called the Emirates Stadium.

I think the deal is £100m over 10 years.

There's currently a segment on the Emirates News channel of EK flights about sport sponsorship.

Cheers,
Rick

And from next season they will sponsor HSV, the 1.division football club from Hamburg.

During the football world cup in Germany Emirates will have a big promotion in 16 airports worldwide.
On big television cubes they will show all world cup games live!
