Using a laptop in flight
Hello -- I am flying JFK-DXB later this month in F cabin. CAn anyone tell me how I use my laptop in flight? Do I need a special adapter to plug it in?

Wireless should be available...it was on my ZRH-DXB flight on that same aircraft last week. There was a connection in the seat for ethernet and usb but I was not able to get connected via ethernet and never have been able to on EK's aircraft that have them installed but wireless was working fine.
Keep in mind that this is for email only....not full web surfing. |
You do not need an adaptor for power.

Connexion by Boeing is a wireless only deal. The ethernet connections are installed, as they are on Lufthansa, but they are not hooked-up to anything.

It will take either of the first two you list.

I could have sworn that it was the American style plug, which are similar to the ones found in the UAE, but I may be completely wrong.

The power plug in F is one of the multi plugs...it can handle several different plug types. You may need to twist a a certain direction based on your plug type but I had no problem with my laptop and my american style plug. I actually read the exact specs someplace before...dont know if it was a previous EK flight with a similar connection type (possibly the 77W?) or if it was on FT someplace.

So by chance my flight from BKK-HKG had a change of aircraft to the 777-300ER 2 cabin model and it has the same power connection in C as is in F on the A340-500 and it is a multi plug adapter....similar to an adapter you would use for travel.
