Inflight Catering
Hi,
I'm booked on EK12 LGW-DXB later this year in first class. Anyone know what catering arrangements to expect? Would it be a full lunch with snacks later or breakfast and lunch? Flight departs at 10.00 am so not sure what to expect. Also, my 10 year old son is coming with me. At the moment I have a child meal booked for him but last time (in businesss class) this was I think the same as an economy kids meal and would have been fine for a 5 year old but not a growing lad of 10. Anyone know if Emirates can do any thing here. A simple adult type meal of meat and vegetables would suit him fine but the published 'special' meals that are available don't seem to allow this. His taste has not yet developed to appreciate the full offerings which I have found to be superb in the past. Thanks. |

The kids meals are (as you said) the same as economy meals. I would not order a special meal, and if he does not like anything on the menu, just ask for a childs meal - they always have extras on board. Cheers |
Thank you sadiqhassan for the info.
Is this sort of stuff published by Emirates anywhere or do just know from experience? Cheers |

Hi sadiqhassan,
Thanks for that and many happy returns for your birthday. Been away so missed your post on the day. Hope is was a good one. I don't remember being 17! Cheers |
I certainly hope that your son has better luck than my grandaughter.Booked in business class BNE-LHR.She has a few food sensitivities and is allergic to peanuts and eggs. Her mother rang to order meals but was told as she had a peanut allergy emirates would not serve her but mother would be able to take food along for the flight.Really sensible option for a flight that long.
It is not as though the request meant difficult food preparation.Steak, ckicken or fish with vegetables are the grandaughters preferred options. She has had no problems on JAL,MH,QF,AA or CX. I,m sorry but if you are paying 3 adult and 3 childrens business class fares the service should be a bit better.Lost the grandparents business as well EK. |
Follow up to last post.EK told daughter to bring along canned food for this trip.First of all no can opener on board(although they had been notified). Then told no way of heating food.So 6 year old granddaughter goes without food for 26 hours.Unacceptable EK.

So don't fault EK with not having a can opener or not wanting to eat your own food. |

So don't fault EK with not having a can opener or not wanting to eat your own food. Also have had no problems getting a meal on QF,AA,MH and JAL.Only EF that refused to provide a meal.So I dont accept your criticism. |
