trying to understand tier miles for status
I'm confused about the terms of tier miles as it relates to earning status. In other FFP only the base miles count for earning the elite status. Is that what EK means by tier miles? Or do the cabin bonus for biz/1st count as well? On American Airlines, biz/1st earn 1.5 points which means that 67K points or 100K base miles earns the top status.
The reason I ask is that there are some attractive 1st class fares cmb-kix that if they earn base + 100% bonus miles for 1st, then silver status is easy to reach. Thoughts? |
From the Skywards website
Tier Miles... * Help you progress to Skywards Silver and Skywards Gold membership levels. * Are earned only when you fly Emirates or SriLankan. * Are earned at the equivalent rate of one tier mile for each Skywards Mile you earn on your flight, plus a bonus of 50% for Business Class and 100% for First Class. * Are valid for one year. So... yes, the 100% COS bonus for First Class will count towards Silver Status :) Cheers |
but not any elite bonuses, right? (not relevant for the OP yet, but will be after qualifying)
